Cooperation Agreement between DFRS & MDS signed.

Enhancing road safety across Germany and Europe 🛡️🚗

Nearly 20,000 people lost their lives on EU roads in 2024. Timely and cross-border sharing of safety-critical information play an important role in helping to strengthen road safety while creating both economic and societal value.

This is why the Mobility Data Space (MDS), funded by Bundesministerium für Verkehr (BMV), and DFRS – Data For Road Safety (DFRS) are joining forces to support Europe’s Vision Zero goal.

Together with 30 DFRS partners, we are building the foundation for trusted, cross-border exchange of safety-related traffic information – contributing to Europe’s Vision Zero goal: zero road fatalities by 2050. We enable the real-time exchange of safety-related traffic information, such as:
• wrong-way driver alerts
• hazardous road and weather conditions
• unprotected accident areas
• short-term road works

👉 The role of the Mobility Data Space: providing the trusted technical foundation for secure, sovereign, and scalable data exchange – in near-to-realtime.

This collaboration shows how trusted data sharing helps detecting hazards earlier, improve traffic management, and ultimately save lives.
